| TITLE | AI Powered Navigation Assistance System for Visually Impaired |
|---|---|
| ABSTRACT | Navigating indoor spaces is a significant challenge for visually impaired individuals, as obstacles like people, furniture, doors, and electronic devices are difficult to perceive. Traditional aids, such as white canes, provide limited feedback and do not describe objects in the environment. Keeping these challenges in perspective, this project proposes an AI-powered assistive navigation system for visually impaired users. The primary aim of this system is to provide real-time detection of obstacles and generate voice guidance to alert users of potential hazards. The system applies lightweight machine learning models to identify and classify objects in the user’s environment, evaluate their position relative to the user’s forward path, and deliver timely audio cues only for relevant obstacles. By filtering unnecessary information and focusing on actionable guidance, the proposed solution seeks to enhance indoor mobility, safety, and independence. This system has potential applications in classrooms, offices, corridors, and other indoor spaces where visually impaired users require real-time navigation support. |
